Create an Online Game

What if your student's short story could be built into an online world? With coding, it can be. Some of your students might be familiar with Minecraft, but if they aren't, then do no worry.  There are plenty of resources out there that will take you step-by-step through the process of building a world.  Take a look at the options below and see where you would like to start.  Remember, this is a journey, there is no reason to rush through. You can either learn it first, or you can learn it with your students.

What is Minecraft?

"It's a game about placing blocks and going on adventures. It’s set in infinitely-generated worlds of wide open terrain - icy mountains, swampy bayous, vast pastures and much more - filled with secrets, wonders and peril!"~ Minecraft

Take a Look

If you have never heard of Minecraft, or have never interacted with the online game, then take a look at this video to see what it is all about.

How to Create a Minecraft Online Game

Check with your School's Administration. If your school has Microsoft Word and Excel, then it would already have an Office 365 account. If not, then you will have to create one.

Go through the tutorials and lessons with your students. You can do this with them or on your own first.

Minecraft Gamers

Your storytelling choices are up to you. You can have them write a story beforehand, or work in a group to create an online world full of characters and world building.

With Minecraft, students can explore each other's worlds and communicate with each other online through group chat.
